What is Boba? Flavors, toppings and Recipes
Boba or Bubble tea is a tea based beverage with small round tapioca pearls that are chewy and sweet.
Boba was first made in Taiwan and has become a global sensation, with the unlimited variety of flavors, toppings, aesthetics and combinations to try and discover.
It is typically enjoyed in a sealed cup with a long wide straw that you use to peirce the seal and drink up the boba balls and delicous milk tea.
There are many steps to making a delicious cup of bubble tea.
1st: Brewing tea: each tea has a different flavor and brewing temperature and time to extract the best out of the tea leaves. Green teas prefer temperatures just below boiling where as black teas require boiling water to truly produce the full flavor from their leaves.
2nd: Boba pearls or tapioca pearls are made from a tapioca starch and formed into a ball that is fragile when dry but chewy and soft when cooked properly. This is a slow and delicate process with a large room for error, leaving a narrow sweet spot for perfectly cooked QQ boba.
